We’ve been talking about words of the faith. Today we welcome a special guest who has chosen to speak about discipleship. Discipleship and Spiritual Maturity; A Result is an eye-opening discussion about the nature of relational discipleship, disciple-making as a result of spiritual maturity, and how integral it is to the purpose of the church and the Christian life. Are you actively involved in discipleship? In encouraging, passionate words, Pastor Brandon Cooper who was himself blessed by the investments a Godly disciple-maker made in his life, says, “Once you’ve experienced that organic relational discipleship, once you get a taste of it, you don’t want anything else. No cheap substitutes… it’s time, plus the relationship, plus the Word of God… bathed in love.”
With great wisdom and clarifying terminology, Brandon shares his personal experience with discipleship and explains why making disciples is his mission in life in both the context of the church and as a stand against the cultural drift we are experiencing today. Exuding great hope, he reveals a refreshing view of how cultural drift will benefit the church in that it has historically done well in times of persecution – not unlike Greco-Roman times when the church quickly grew.
Referring to the parable of the talents, he asks, “Do we bury the things God has given us in the ground or do we invest it and multiply?” He speaks frankly of our mortality, eternal life in Christ and how we can touch eternity now, even in our mortality by building into the lives of men and women around us. In this episode you will learn the theology of discipleship, how to seek these important relationships, and their practical application in the development of spiritual maturity which ultimately results in disciples to make disciples.
